Mark West studies ICT in education for UNESCO, looking specifically at how mobile technology can advance progress toward
Sustainable Development Goal 4: ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. He has authored several publications on mobile learning and is currently investigating efforts to leverage affordable digital tools and services to expand learning opportunities in emergency and crisis contents. Mr. West also coordinates Mobile Learning Week, the United Nation’s flagship ICT in education conference which is held annually. The 2017 event examined how technology can improve education for displaced people and was co-organized with UNHCR. Prior to joining UNESCO, Mr. West researched education as a Fulbright Fellow and worked as a high school teacher, university lecturer and teacher trainer. He is a graduate of Stanford University. Mr. West will be speaking at the ICEM conference in his personal capacity.
